We are in need of old tricycles for a Merry-Go-Trike! They don't have to be beautiful, or even in working condition. If they've got a front wheel with pedals, we'll take them!! Spread the word, and contact Christine Westrich at oomar_duh@yahoo.com if you locate any! We'll need at LEAST five, so keep your eyes peeled at garage sales, search the back of the shed, and hit up the neighbors whose kids are now grown.
BHK has something of this sort. They go very fast, and being metal, are actually dangerous. Perhaps it is possible to design a set that go more slowly...something to consider.
ReplyDeleteI can contact BHK and see how many injuries they've had on their units, as I know they have a few of these, and they've been around for years. They keep records of injuries, so we should be able to get some objective data.
ReplyDeleteJust heard back from BHK. In the years that they've had their merry-go-trikes, they haven't had any incidents of injury (those "ouch reports" that they keep track of) on that particular piece of equipment. Children are supervised when riding BHK's Merry-Go-Trike, though, and if it gets going too fast, a child can always ask to be taken off. Parental supervision will be required for everything at "The Treehouse", but maybe we should put up a specific sign warning about the possibility of higher speeds, and encouraging parents to closely supervise their children when riding it.
